How to play One More
Tap anywhere and the ball flips to the other wall. Every block you get past is one point. Touch a block and the run is over. That is the whole game; the rest of this page is the detail.
The control: one tap
The ball climbs a shaft between two walls on its own. You only decide when it changes sides.
- On a wall: a tap kicks the ball off and sends it across to the other wall.
- In the air: a tap turns it around. It keeps some of its speed, so a mid-air flip is quicker than you might expect. You can use it to thread a gap or save a jump you started too early.
- Anywhere counts: there are no buttons during a run. Tap any part of the screen.
The three kinds of block
| Block | What it looks like | How to pass it |
|---|---|---|
| Ledge | Sticks out from one wall, a third to over half of the way across. | Be on the other wall, or past its end, as it goes by. |
| Slab | Floats in the middle of the shaft. | Ride either wall. Don't be crossing when it arrives. |
| Pinch | Two blocks, one on each wall, with a gap in the middle. | Be crossing, in the middle, as it goes by. |
Pinches never come in the first eight blocks and never two in a row, and there is extra room after each one. Every pinch can be cleared in one clean crossing; you never need a frantic double tap.
Scoring
You get one point for every block the ball gets past. That's the only way to score. When you pass a block with only a hair of room to spare, the game marks it with its own sound and haptic, but a near miss is worth the same single point.
It speeds up, then holds
The climb gets faster and the blocks get closer together as your score goes up, until block 40. By then the ball is climbing twice as fast as at the start, ledges reach further across, and pinch gaps are narrower. After 40 the speed stays the same; from there it is about staying sharp.
The shaft also changes color as you climb: midnight slate at the start, blue by 25, plum past 50, with a warm light reaching down from above once you pass 20. Every tenth point rings, and every 25th the light pulses.
When a run ends
Touch any block and the run stops; the block you hit turns vermilion. The game ignores taps for about a third of a second so a panicked tap doesn't skip your score. After that, one tap starts the next run straight away.
The ball's hit area is a little smaller than the ball you see, so a graze that looks like a hit is sometimes a miss.
